Finally I have time for myself to write again in this blog. I give the title for this writing “coming soon”, it’s actually about PRAYER. How we keep praying and how we pray.

In order of this writing I actually develop from a post that I saw in instagram a while ago. So, in this post telling about the stories in Luke 11:5-8 and Luke 18:2-8.

First,

We can read in Luke 11:5-8, Jesus teach us how we supposed to pray, He actually teach us not to give up on what we praying for. Keep praying and believing, like the first illustration, Jesus teach us to keep asking in what we longing to.  Let’s look at the verse 8 “I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence [persistence] , he will rise and give him whatever he needs”, from this verse Jesus want us to be persistence in what we asking in our prayer. 

What is persistence exactly ? I go check the free online dictionary about what persistence is, then I found that persistence is REFUSING TO GIVE UP OR TO LET GO; INSTENTLY REPETITIVE OR CONTINOUS. Well, we actually have known what persistence is, right? But I just want to remind us, what Jesus want to teach us that when we ask something in our prayer, be persistence ! Refuse to give up on what we asking for. Keep praying, keep believing !

The unique thing when God open His wisdom about this writing, God remind me why we have to keep praying, why we have to persist on what we praying for. So, why is it ?? 

Keep praying and persist on what we praying for is doing our prayer not only once or twice, but pray until it happen. This is the unique thing that I want to share. God remind me this; if we want to make our prayer happen, we have to keep praying, right? But, when we do keep praying, not just the thing that we pray would be happen, but by keep praying, it is the way God change us, He change our heart, He change our mindset, He change our life. That is why Jesus teach us in this verse to keep persist on what we praying for, is that by keep praying, we actually make movement to have His wisdom and His grace in our life. Isn’t it amazing what’s behind this verse?

We might be heard this quote all time “Keep praying but not doing anything is nonsense”, right? Well, I figure it out, it’s not wrong, it might be right. But…as I said above, when we do our prayer continuously until something happen, we actually make a connection to God’s heart and that connection will turns into a deep relationship with Him, and that deep relationship turns into knowing God’s heart, until finally, knowing God’s heart will turns into changing our heart, our mindset and our life. And automatically what we pray for, will meet our act. So, when our prayer finally came true, it’s not only about God answering our prayer, but we persist on continuously to bring our self to get closer to God and have that deep relationship with Him and considered that our capacity has been enlarged to receive our granted prayer.

  

Second, 

In Luke 18:2-8, in this illustration, Jesus teach us the same thing as it appeared in Luke 11:5-8. I believe Jesus want to emphasize about how we must keep praying and believing so that He give us another illustrated in another chapter in the book of Luke.

So, what will we learn in this illustration?

I love the part in verse 3, “And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ ” (English Standard Version). Note that this illustration is about a widow that asking a justice to a judge and she came not once or twice, but she came repeatedly !

Well, this illustration is actually quite similar with what I have describe at first above, but let see what’s behind this Luke 18:3. Let see, there was a judge, and what exactly judge do ? they give justice for those who worth justified, right? And there was a widow, who came to the judge asking for a justice. So, the bottom line of what I want to share is this widow knew to whom she will get her justice. She knew to where she will get what she needed. And she knew that the judge will give her justice, so she keep coming asking, until her justice granted to her. 

In the same chapter in Luke 18:35-43, the story about Jesus heals the blind beggar near the Jericho. In the verse 38-39; ³⁸ And he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” ³⁹ And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” (English Standard Version). I love the line BUT HE CRIED OUT ALL THE MORE, I can imagine how hard he struggle on the situation, but the bible let us know that this blind bagger knew to whom he ask for mercy, though it was a hard situation.

From these two stories we can see that, first, Jesus want teach us from the widow that she knew to whom she will get what she needed, although it was not easy for her because the judge was a person who neither feared God nor respected man, but she knew and she believe that the only way she got the one she needed was only through that judge, so she keep coming and keep coming to that judge and she won’t stop coming until her wish granted. Second, same as the widow, the blind bagger when he knew that Jesus was passing by, he cried out for mercy. He knew that the only way he got recover his sight only through Jesus, so when he knew that Jesus was passing by, he didn’t want to missed his chance and immediately crying out loud to Jesus asking for mercy. Although people around him sternly telling him to be quite, but he shouted and cried out even more asking for mercy. And I assume, imagine a situation like that, the blind bagger would not stop shouted until he got what he asking for. 

The bottom line of these two similar stories that we first have to know to whom we brought our prayer and keep believing through every circumstances on whom we put our prayer in. We have to know that God is one and only way we have all of our needs through our prayer in Him and believe that He is able, He even more than capable and willing to answer all of our prayer. But have we ask and pray like that widow or that blind beggar ?

Third,

Many of us thought that when God answer our prayer is when we behave good and not doing the sins. Well, it might be true, though. But if we really have any thoughts like that way, I assume that we haven’t know God closely yet. Revelation 2:2-5, look how the book of Revelation explain that actually God is seeking for our heart, because what comes out from our heart, it is HONESTLY reflected through our act.

We have to believe that God is willing to answer our prayer, yes…He is willing !

So, why God is willing to answer our prayer? First, as it appeared in the picture that I saw posted in instagram, God is willing because to protect His reputation as One who makes covenants and keeps them. 

I following this line through Luke 18:6-8; ⁶ And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. ⁷ And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? ⁸ I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” (English Standard Version). This is telling us that God is willing to answer our prayer, because He is God, He has all the power, He is magnificent and there’s nothing on earth could describe more of His mighty and His ability to show His majesty in our life by answering our prayer. 

Second, why God is willing to answer our prayer, it is because He is our loving Father !

I following this line through Luke 11:11-13; ¹¹ What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; ¹² or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? ¹³ If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (English Standard Version). What is more beautiful to describe this love? I can’t find any other word to describe and explain these verses. But what I got through this verses I could describe that He is a loving Father. A Father that willing to do anything to His beloved children, a Father that willing to back up His children in every circumstances, and even more, a Father that willing to die for saving His beloved children. Isn’t it so precious?

So, are you still keep on praying and believing on what you are longing to right now? Whatever we asking for in our prayer, it will coming soon to be true. Don’t give up my friend…there’s always hope for those who believe in Christ alone.

Anything could be happen, don’t lose faith ..

Well, that is all I want to share with you guys, I'm thanking God for giving me His wisdom through His Holy Spirit while I wrote this blog. And I hope this would courage all of us to not give up on our prayer and continually praying and believing.
